Georgeta Stoleriu
Soprano Georgeta Stoleriu studied at the National University of Music in Bucharest with Iolanda Marculescu and followed the Weimar International Music Seminars (Hochschule fur Musik Franz Liszt), studying Canto and Stylistics with prof. Lore Fischer – Nell.
She was awarded numerous prizes (the J.S. Bach Prize, Leipzig, the Romanian Music Critics College Prize, the Flacăra magazine prize) and medals (George Enescu, Dinu Lipatti, Haricleea Darclee, Tristan Tzara, the Anniversary Medal of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting company, the Romania Music Channel, the Anniversary Medal of the Cotroceni Museum). She has performed over 1200 times as a soloist with the George Enescu Philharmonic and the two Radio Orchestras in Bucharest, as well as with all the symphonic orchestras in Romania. She has been a permanent collaborator of the Musica Rediviva old music ensemble and she led the chamber music ensemble The Old Music Studio. She recorded over 3500 minutes of music at the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company and publishing houses such as Electrecord (Romania), Newport Classic (USA) or Guanako (Germany). She acted in TV films (Susanna’s Secret – Marianti Banu, The Music Lesson – Dan Manoliu). She gave tours with vocal-symphonic concerts and recitals in Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Poland, Bulgaria, Maroc, Greece, SUA, Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Czechia, France, Portugal, Italy, Sweden. She participated in international festivals in Bidgoszcs (Poland), Zadar (Yugoslavia), Sanssouci – Potsdam (GErmany), Bucharest, (Romania), Bremen (Germany), Milwaukee (SUA), Santander (Span), Csezke Budejovice (Czechia), Lisbon (Portugal), Dortmund (Germany), Brasov (Romania).
Her repertoire includes medieval and Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary music, as well as many Romanian composers (from Enescu and Jora to Doru Popovici, Carmen Petra-Basacopol, Nicolae Coman, Mihaela Vosganian, Cornel Ţăranu.
She is currently associated professor at the National University of Music in Bucharest, her canto students obtaining over 50 international prizes. She is member in international juries for singing competitions (Prague, Bucharest, Malmö) and she gave numerous masterclasses Milwaukee – USA, Braşov – Romania, Karlovy Vary – Czsechia, Piatra Neamţ – Romania, Chişinău – the Moldova Republic, Constanţa – Romania. She initiated the annual scholarship “Iolanda Marculescu”.
